THE DEADLINE is fast approaching for entries to the Journal Education Awards. Anyone can put forward a nomination for the awards, which have ten categories, and all who put forward a name will be entered into a free draw with a prize of an iPad.
Do you know that special someone? That person who has gone the extra mile to change the lives of others through education?
The awards are being run in partnership with The Body Lounge and is sponsored by a host of other top companies from across Salisbury and South Wiltshire.
Our awards cover many aspects of the teaching profession, including volunteer staff, those who play a greater part in the community and show great leadership.
The awards will culminate in a gala night being held at the Milford Hall Hotel on July 8th.
To enter somebody for an award email charlotte.crook@salisburyjournal.co.uk saying which award you wish to enter them for, your contact details and why they should win the award. Please put the “Education Awards” in the subject box and the category you are nominating for. There is no limit to the number of entries you make but we do ask you send on separate emails for each award.
The deadline for entries is Thursday, June 2.
The award categories are:
NURSERY/PRIMARY TEACHER OF THE YEAR - Sponsor Woolley and Wallis
Celebrates outstanding achievement or dedication of individual nursery/ primary phase teachers, who inspire and engage pupils and make an exceptional contribution to the life of their school/nursery.
SECONDARY TEACHER OF THE YEAR - Sponsor The Body Lounge
Celebrates outstanding achievement or dedication of individual secondary phase teachers, who inspire and engage pupils and make an exceptional contribution their school.
COLLEGE TEACHER OF THE YEAR - Sponsor TG300
Celebrates outstanding achievement or dedication of an individual college teacher who inspire and engage pupils and make an exceptional contribution to the life of their college.
SUPPORTING STAFF MEMBER OF THE YEAR - Sponsor Singfinity
This category can include caretakers, support assistants, schools crossing patrol people and other non-teaching staff. It is aimed at those who always give exceptional service and make a real difference to their educational establishment through their work.
LEADERSHIP AWARD - Sponsor Wilsons Law
Celebrates outstanding achievement(s) of a head teacher or senior leadership team member or governor who has made an exceptional contribution to education.
VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTION AWARD - Sponsor Radiquip
Celebrates outstanding achievement or dedication of governors, parents etc who have shown dedication and commitment to their school on a voluntary basis.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AWARD - Sponsor New Hall Hospital
Celebrates the dedication of schools, pupils or teachers that have developed initiatives that forge strong links with their community.
INNOVATION AWARD - Sponsor Wiltshire College
Recognises a new idea which has had a significant positive impact on children and young people or an educational establishment that has demonstrated a commitment to providing new opportunities for students.
SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY AWARD - Sponsor Aspire Defence
Recognises an outstanding and or/ innovative contribution to the teaching of Science and Technology in either a primary or secondary school.
BUSINESS IN SCHOOLS AWARD - Sponsor Moore Stephens
This category is to recognise an initiative by either a school or business that has forged a successful partnership to the benefit of a school and its pupils.
