VETERAN army rugby forward Lance Corporal Chris Bugden from the Royal Signals is the oldest player in the Premiership, playing for the Exeter Chiefs.
Having helped the Devonbased side achieve promotion from the Championship in 2010, the 40-year-old remains in full time training.
He said. “The team is doing well; we have been knocked out of the Heineken Cup, but we are comfortably sitting mid-table.”
Despite his commitments at club level, L/Cpl Bugden is looking forward to playing another season of rugby.
Boxer Private Ashley Williams, of 2 R Welsh, suffered disappointment in the ring as he lost in the quarterfinals of the European under- 22 championships.
The Welsh boxer returns to international level later this month.
Bombardier Siobhan Haynes from Larkhill-based 4 Regiment RA was just beaten on a majority decision at the ABA Championships, a disappointing end to a great season.
