The Battle of Mirbat

ON July 19, 1972 a battle took place at Mirbat in Oman, when 400 rebels attacked a fort held by nine members of the SAS.

For many years little was known about this day - which is reckoned to be the SAS’s finest hour – because, officially, there were no British troops stationed in Oman.

A survivor of the battle, Warrant Officer Class 1 Roger Cole, has agreed to give a talk about that day and take questions afterwards at Dinton village hall on Friday, March 22 at 7pm.

All money raised will go to the military charity the British Limbless Ex Service Men’s Association (BLESMA).

Tickets for the event, which are £8, are limited and available from Michael Glover on 01722 716434 or at gloverglobal@btinternet.com.
