FEBRUARY will be busy on the Plain, with 3rd Battalion the Parachute Regiment in Copehill Down Village for urban operations training, and 4th Battalion the Rifles on low level training on the Salisbury Plain Training Area (SPTA) East from February 1 to 16.

February 3 to 7 will see major armoured manoeuvres and artillery live firing exercises across the whole plain, which will involve the Land Warfare Centre Armoured Infantry course and three Royal School of Artillery courses firing 155mm AS90 and 105mm Light Gun on Larkhill Ranges. From February 10 to 14, the Land Warfare Centre armoured and armoured infantry course final exercise and brigade reconnaissance exercise will use the west and centre of the SPTA.

Finally, from February 24 to 28, 2nd Battalion the Welsh Regiment will exercise two armoured infantry companies in Warrior combat vehicles in the centre and east of the training area, with a squadron of Challenger 2 tanks from 2nd Royal Tank Regiment. At the same time 30 Commando IX Group, with BV 206 over snow vehicles, will train in the west.
