PRINCE Harry visited the British athletes preparing for the Invictus Games to wish then good luck last week. He told them: “With the games only four weeks away, I cannot wait to watch this team compete against the other nations in the fantastic venues of the Olympic Park.” I wish you all the very best of luck in the final weeks of training.”

The British team includes Corporal Ricky Furgusson, 29, from 4 RIFLES who received the Military Cross after he lost legs, an eye and five fingers in a bomb blast in Afghanistan in 2010 after he risked his life helping wounded comrades at the front line four times.

Corporal Furgusson, who hopes to compete in the 100m, 200m and 400m sprints, said: “I have got no choice now but to hit the running track, when before running was just an option. Who knows? I might even make it to the Paralympics in Rio.”

The team, which has been trained and supported by Help for Heroes and the Ministry of Defence, is made up of 58 per cent veterans, The Games run from September 11 to 14 and some tickets are still available at £12.85 from http://invictusgames.org/ticket-info/
