A TEAM of female soldiers from 32 Regiment Royal Artillery based in Larkhill, has tackled a marathon march with each woman carrying 20 Kilo bergens on their backs in aid of charity.
The idea for the physical challenge came from Bombardier Kate Millard who, on returning from maternity leave, decided that she needed to get herself back on track with her fitness.
“I needed a new challenge to get me motivated to get fit and I also like doing what I can for charity so I decided on this,” said Bmdr Millard. “Every year, soldiers must carry out two Advanced Fitness Tests (AFTs), each carrying 20 kilos for eight miles in less than two hours.”
“However, we decided to go one step further and push it an extra 18.2 miles for charity. We are delighted to have achieved our goal.”
Money raised from the marathon march and carry will go to the Forces Children’s Trust and Lucy’s Days Out. To donate visit justgiving.com/larkhillmarathon.
