Grant means book club can continue
A BOOK club for adults with learning disabilities can continue its work in Salisbury, thanks to a £5,000 grant from South Wilts Mencap and £2,500 from The Portway Trust.
The weekly book club brings classic literature to life through a range of multi-sensory workshops using sight, sounds, touch, smells and taste.
Cindy Moxham, director of Openstorytellers, said: “Openstorytellers would like to thank South Wilts Mencap for their continuing support. “They were instrumental in setting up this fantastic community initiative over two years ago and have been the main funder since then.
“The Multi-Sensory Book Club helps people with profound and complex needs to be immersed in wonderful classic stories such as Around the World in Eighty Days or Romeo and Juliet.
“Thanks to Salisbury Playhouse too for partnering with us and providing the wonderful community space. It’s a wonderful project, huge fun and one which we’re immensely proud of.”
