Road safety bands for children
12:35pm Tuesday 22nd January 2013 in Headlines
PRIMARY school children across south Wiltshire have been given free high-visibility arm bands to wear during their walk to school.
Wiltshire Council teamed up with Wiltshire Police, Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service and NHS Wiltshire, to improve the road safety of Year 5 and 6 pupils.
Corporate director Maggie Rae said: “It’s vital we do everything we can to ensure our children are safe when they travel to school. This initiative demonstrates our collaborative working and the commitment of public health, Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service, schools, and other partners to improve the safety of our children.”
Any spare bands will be distributed to cyclists, dog walkers, runners and anyone else who wants one.
