More snow expected
4:53pm Tuesday 22nd January 2013 in Headlines By Corey Ross
PEOPLE in Wiltshire are being urged to take care if they are out and about tonight and tomorrow morning, with more widespread snow expected to fall overnight.
Snow is predicted to fall across the county from 6pm, becoming heavier overnight, and freezing temperatures coupled with up to 10cm of snow on high ground could make driving conditions difficult.
Wiltshire Council is salting primary routes this afternoon and will continue to monitor the situation with crews on standby throughout the night. There has also been support from the community, with 50 farmers assisting with snow ploughing and blowing, and grit bins regularly refilled.
Pedestrians and motorists are being urged to take care if they decide to travel and with the weather expected to remain below freezing for some time, people are also being urged to keep an eye on vulnerable neighbours and friends.
There could be disruption to services and more details can be found on Wiltshire Council’s website wiltshire.gov.uk.
Up-to-date information on the conditions and affected areas will be available on the council’s twitter account @wiltshirewinter.
