APPLEFORD School has been rated by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) as “excellent” in all areas.

The Shrewton school was praised for its “vibrant curriculum”, its teaching, pupils’ personal development and the quality of pupils’ achievements and learning.

Inspectors also highlighted the quality of governance, leadership and management, and the of the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of students.

Headteacher David King said: “We are absolutely delighted with this truly outstanding report. It confirms the staff’s dedication to the school and our belief that Appleford is a unique path to success for our students.”

Inspectors noted while students often join the school with unhappy earlier learning experiences, they soon come to recognise their own worth and that of others.
