Pancake Day at cathedral Pancake Day at cathedral

TRAINEE choristers of the Salisbury Cathedral Choir got into the Pancake Day spirit as they learned all about the meaning of Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday while also having fun with frying pans.

The youngsters were invited to a breakfast party by Canon Precentor Tom Clammer where they enjoyed making pancakes before helping burn last year’s Palm Sunday crosses to make the ash used in the Ash Wednesday services at the cathedral.

Canon Clammer said: “This is the first time I’ve hosted this special pancake and palms for probationers breakfast ,and found it to be the perfect way of having a bit of fun whilealso explaining the true meaning of Shrove Tuesday and the start of our preparation for Lent.”
