THE head boy at Salisbury’s Sarum Academy organised a non-uniform day, raising £105 for the British Heart Foundation.

Joe Booth, who has dilated cardiomyopahy, has needed numerous operations over the years to treat the heart defect, and wanted to do something to help the charity.

He said: “There are many people out there who have much more serious defects than mine and this charity helps to raise awareness of these people and raise vital funding for research into treatment development.

“The support from Sarum Academy has been amazing. My teachers have made sure I am able to keep up with my education and achieve the results possible, despite needing time out for surgery.”

Other fundraising events, involving local primary schools, have boosted the total raised for the BHF to £298.
