Be on guard against distraction burglars

POLICE in Tidworth are urging householders to be on guard to prevent distraction burglaries. Tidworth Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) has issued the following advice:
• Check using a spy hole or window to see if you know the person and if you don’t, keep the door shut.
• It is always best to put the door chain on when first opening the door, even if you think you know the caller.
• Official visitors will always arrange an appointment and carry identification.
• You can always call the organisation a caller says they are from to check that they are genuine and an official caller will not mind waiting while you do this.
• If you have any doubts at all, do not open the door and call police. For more information, contact Tidworth NPT on 101.
