A BREAD making week, a woodland event for children and a village playground are all set to benefit from South West Wiltshire Area Board grants.
The area board met on Wednesday to consider the final round of applications for the 2012/13 financial year.
Merely Real Bread was awarded £300 towards a bread makers’ week in Mere from May 11 to 17, as part of the Real Bread Campaign. And £350 went to Mere Footpath Group to improve the condition and accessibility of public footpaths.
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust South Supporters Group was awarded £250 towards a woodland event for local school children and the Sutton Badges Committee was given £105.
Hinton Hall was awarded £840 towards improvements to its car park and £5,000 was given to Berwick St John Parish Council towards refurbishment of children’s playground equipment.
New finger posts were approved for five parish councils: Stourton, Mere, West Knoyle, Fovant and Ansty; and three youth projects also secured funding.
Wilton Youthy was awarded £1,000 towards a skate building project, South West Wiltshire Youth Advisory Group got £450 towards a community event, and £740 was awarded to Barn Buddies Youth Club and Mere Dazzlers Majorettes to insulate the barn where they meet.
