Joseph cycles in memory of grandfather
A 13-YEAR-OLD boy is preparing for a cycling and sailing challenge to fundraise in memory of his grandfather.
Joseph Wigley, who lives in Combwich, Somerset, is raising money for Salisbury Hospice.
His grandfather John Turnbull, who lived in Mere, was diagnosed with a fast-growing brain tumour three years ago and died just seven months later aged 74. He spent his last few weeks at the hospice.
Joseph will cycle more than 100 miles along the Devon coast from Ilfracombe to Plymouth in five days, and then sail a minute for every £1 donated in his dinghy on Durleigh reservoir.
He said: “My grandpa loved cycling and was very interested in my sailing, which is why I picked these events. I feel this is the least I could do to say thank you."
Joseph will set off on September 4 and his parents Graeme and Nicole will take it in turns to cycle with him.
