Summer Spectacular promises fun at the weekend
A FUNFAIR, food and fireworks are all part of the fun planned at Hudson’s Field on Saturday at the Salisbury Summer Spectacular.
Salisbury City Council hopes to build on the success of last year’s Jubilee celebrations with the large-scale free event from 2pm to 10pm, which will include live music, craft stalls, and children’s activities.
A host of local acts will perform on the main stage, including Sandy Ince of Sticky Toffee Jazz and the Deloreons, before FLASH! A tribute to Queen take to the stage.
There will also be fun demonstrations in the arena throughout the afternoon, including the Animal WD-40 Action Sports Tour – showcasing the incredible skill, control and balance of the world’s best professional mountain bike riders, a free runner and the country’s hottest young scooter riders.
At 6pm a number of balloons will take to the skies to the sounds of classical music for a Hot Air Balloon Spectacular.
Children’s writer Jayne Woodhouse will be signing copies of her books about Rocky the greyhound and any greyhound owners who bring along their pet will get a free copy of And Rocky Too.
The council has organised free parking in all city centre car parks from 1pm and free park and ride, as well as free shuttle buses taking people to Hudson’s Field from outside Tesco Metro in Castle Street, the Coach Station Car Park, the Beehive park and ride and the railway station.
Visitors are encouraged to bring picnics, but no barbecues, glass or alcohol will be permitted. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead and Ask 25 will be operating at the bar tents so people are encouraged to bring ID.
