Grant for Milford Street Project
A PROJECT that has worked to preserve the memories and history of people living in an area of Salisbury has been awarded a £13,900 grant.
The Milford Street Bridge Project has been given the money towards its website and educational packs.
Run by St Edmunds Community Association, the project is behind the murals on either side of the road under the Milford Street Bridge and now aims to create a website to share the memories, stories and photographs collected through the project as well as offering downloadable guided walks around the local area through the website.
The education packs will be a resource for local primary schools to use for teaching children about the social history of Salisbury in the twentieth century.
Project Co-ordinator, Clare Christopher said: “We are thrilled to have received this grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, which means we can share the fascinating stories and pictures that we have in our archives.”
Head of Heritage Lottery Fund South West, Nerys Watts said: “We are delighted to continue our support for St Edmunds Community Association, ensuring that the valuable archive materials can be safeguarded for future generations.”
