Work begins to expand GP surgery’s car park
1:00pm Thursday 22nd August 2013 in Headlines
WORK has begun on the expansion and alteration of the Fordingbridge Doctors’ Surgery car park.
Some 13,000 residents use the Bartons Road surgery but, with limited car parking spaces and a single entrance and exit point, many patients have found using the car park difficult.
Several complaints from surgery users saying that the car park was “inadequate” sparked a fundraising campaign led by the Friends of Fordingbridge Surgery, with £46,000 being raised.
As well as doubling the capacity, the car park will also have an entrance and an exit.
Patients are being asked to use the town’s main car park while Godshill firm Earlcote Construction carries out the work.
Fordingbridge Surgery manager Michelle Raymond said: “The feedback from patients has been extremely positive.”
Some disabled parking spaces will still be available at the surgery throughout the work.
The work is expected to last until September 6.
