Pimpfest raises money for charities
A CAR show held in Salisbury last weekend raised more than £2,000 for charity.
Pimpfest, held at the cattle market in Netherhampton Road on August 18, raised money for Cancer Research UK, Salisbury District Hospital’s Stars Appeal and Scotty’s Little Soldiers.
There was a huge range of cars on display, a car stereo and exhaust sound-off and entertainment from professional car drifters. A number of stalls and other activities kept visitors amused throughout the afternoon and there was also a bikini car wash.
Organiser Phil Southgate, of Salisbury-based company Pimpinit Ltd, said: “None of the organisers make any money from it; we hold it for the love of cars, and to raise money for the charities. It’s held by the people, for the people.
“I would like to thank the 35 people who helped out on the day, the public for coming along and supporting us, the cattle market and Blencowe Scaffolding for helping out last minute with safety fencing.”
Mr Southgate is already busy planning next year’s event and would like to get more local businesses involved.
“It’s going to get bigger and better,” he said.
