Village hosts a record breaking show
A RECORD number of plants, produce and flowers were on display at the biggest event of the gardening year in Ibsley on Saturday.
Chairman of the Ibsley and District Horticultural Society Alleyn Wilson said the annual show was the largest in its 26-year history, with 400 entries.
Extra tables and the stage were used to showcase many of the entries, which included dahlias, orchids, an array of fruit and a good crop of vegetables.
Children had their own categories and produced some imaginative work and there were photographic and craft entries.
Mrs Wilson said: “I think this year’s event was one of the best years we have had. We had about 400 entries, which was more than ever before and the village hall, which is bright and airy, set the flowers off beautifully.
“We held the event a little earlier this year and were not expecting the range of produce we had. However, we have had a bountiful summer.”
The society is looking for new members to join its monthly group, which meets on the last Thursday of the month at Ibsley Village Hall.
