Cyclists complete Stonehenge challenge
A GROUP of 35 cyclists finished a three-day challenge at Stonehenge to raise money for improvements to the World Heritage Site.
The group covered the 195 miles from Llandissilio to the ancient monument to trace the route the Stonehenge bluestones took from their source in the Preseli Mountains in Wales.
General manager Kate Davies said: “This truly was a monumental challenge and we're grateful to all the enthusiastic participants who braved wind, rain and hills. All the funds will go towards the much-needed improvements, including the new visitor centre and reconnecting the stone circle with the prehistoric landscape.”
The Stonehenge Cycle Challenge was the first English Heritage fundraising challenge but supporters can still donate to support the ongoing work at the site by going to english-heritage.org.uk/donate.
