Cabbie denies driving charge
A TAXI driver has denied causing a crash in Burley that left a driver with multiple broken bones.
Peter William Bennett, 53, from Bays Road in Lymington, is charged with driving his Peugeot Hackney cab without due care and attention on Verely Hill on September 24 last year.
The crash left the driver of a Ford Ka seriously injured.
The passengers in Bennett’s cab also sustained injuries, one serious.
He is also charged with having three tyres in an unsafe condition.
Magistrates in Southampton have scheduled his trial for January 21.
