Run for Ghurka Welfare Trust
FOUR hundred runners took part in the Gurkha Run in Tidworth on Saturday to raise funds for the Gurkha Welfare Trust.
Among them were Lisa Smith, 46, Karen Kelly, 44 and Lisa Hatcher, 28, from Salisbury who had been training for a year for their first competitive run. The 10k course across some of the roughest parts of Salisbury Plain training area was daunting.
“It was the best and worst day of my life,”
said Ms Smith as she got her breath back after the race. “We did the course in 1hr 29mins, beating our target time of 1hr 30mins.”
“We are training for the Great South Run in three weeks,” said Ms Hatcher. “But I doubt if it will be as hard as this.”
