In-spired proposal for Lauren
ROMANTIC Luke Skinner came up with an “inspired” way of popping the question to his fiancée.
The 32-year-old got down on one knee at the top of Salisbury Cathedral’s tower after first sending his girlfriend Lauren Walmsley on a treasure hunt around the city.
Mr Skinner filled balloons with Scrabble tiles, each spelling out the location of the next clue.
Miss Walmsley had to pop the balloons, solve the puzzle and track down the next balloon.
The final stop on the trail was Salisbury Cathedral, where Mr Skinner was anxiously waiting at the top of the tower with more balloons and an engagement ring.
“I think she knew what I was up to but I wanted to ask her to marry me in a memorable way,” he said.
“I was waiting for her at the top of the tower – trying to catch my breath after climbing up all those steps.
“It was really special as she walked through the door and I finally got to pop the question.
“The people at the cathedral were brilliant and helped make it a really memorable day.”
Mr Skinner, who is lettings manager for Bassets estate agents, met Miss Walmsley, 28, who works for Serco, four years ago.
The Salisbury couple plan to wed in 2015.
