Hear the story of the Spitfire
6:00pm Wednesday 16th October 2013 in Headlines
THE story of Hampshire’s most famous aeroplane will be featured at the last New Forest Airfields open day and coffee morning of 2013.
The Supermarine Spitfire was conceived, designed, built and flown in Hampshire.
The event will be this Sunday, from 10am to 4pm, at the New Forest Airfields’ Education Centre in Merryfield Park, Bransgore.
The Friends will tell the story of the Spitfire and that of its naval version the Seafire as well as where they were based around the New Forest, why they were there and the units that flew them.
Thanks to a local aircraft restorer, a few genuine Spitfire artefacts should be there to augment the displays, photographs, models and books.
The Friends of the New Forest Airfields can be contacted on 01425 674516 or email firstname.lastname@example.org .
