Volunteers needed to join a life-saving 999 service
VOLUNTEERS are needed to help provide a life-saving service in Burley and Ringwood.
Bransgore Community First Responders attend 999 calls in the area, but they need more people to join to give a fast and effective service when a life is at risk in Burley.
Spokesman Mike Jukes said: “A generous Bransgore person donated the money to buy the defibrillator for Burley.
“Our group has provided the rest of the medical kit and communications equipment, and a local business has offered to store the kit, when not immediately required by a volunteer on call.
“But to be effective we really do need more volunteers.
"Those in Burley would be a part of the Bransgore group so will get all the support needed and we will always attend calls in Burley from Bransgore when needed.”
First Responders are trained and despatched by the ambulance service to attend life-threatening medical emergencies and provide basic life support care until the arrival of the ambulance.
Volunteers are unpaid and perform the service purely for the benefit of their local community.
Community First Responders in Ringwood are also asking people to consider joining their group.
Co-ordinator Denis Hann said: “We really hope people will come and join so we can extend our hours of operation.
"We are just waiting on the arrival of a second set of equipment, which will mean we hold one on our 4X4 vehicle and one will be available for those who use their own cars.”
