A FORDINGBRIDGE teenager was getting saucy in Ringwood’s Furlong Shopping Centre in Ringwood on Saturday as she bathed in baked beans for a shivering four-and-a-half hours.

Burgate pupil Tazmin Hollands, 14, took the plunge to raise money for a trip to Bengmealea near Siem Reap in August 2015 for four weeks, to help build classrooms, support a reforestation project and teach food and hygiene and English.

Tazmin said: “I would like to thank everyone who supported me and sponsored me for my baked bean bath. I managed to raise £237 on the day and, with all the other sponsors, the total will be around £800, so that is brilliant.

“It was freezing and my feet went numb and I felt quite sick but I refused to get out until 2pm.

“I wanted to try for longer but I was just too cold and felt lousy. I am not sure if I ever want to eat a baked bean again.”

Sainsbury’s, Lidl, Tesco, the Co-op and McDonald’s all donated the cans of baked beans.

Very proud of Tazmin, what she is wishing to do and her efforts to achieve it. Thanks also to all in The Furlong who agreed for us to hold this event, those who donated the beans and everyone who sponsored her. Thank you also to the paper for helping promote it.
