Benny and Tyrone want a new home for Christmas
TWO pining pooches have got their Christmas jumpers on ready for loving new homes.
Staff at the RSPCA’s Ashley Heath rescue centre are so determined to find the pair homes before Christmas, they have knitted them special festive gear.
Benny and Tyrone have both won the hearts of staff, who say they would make wonderful companions.
Benny, a seven-year-old bull mastiff, is described as a lovely natured dog who enjoys human company, once he gets to know you.
He was returned to the charity after previous adopters realised they were not prepared for the commitment of a dog.
Charity worker Sheila Vernon said: “Although a large dog, Benny is actually a bit of a worrier, easily frightened of new objects, areas, sounds and people, so will initially need to be walked in quiet areas away from crowds.
“His confidence can be improved with the correct training and introduction to new things.
“He has spent periods of time alone in a garden, and will require someone to be home most of the day.
“He will also need an experienced owner who is used to larger dogs.
“He has previously lived with a cat and may be suitable to live with a confident cat but caution must be taken when introducing them.”
Tyrone is a two-year-old mastiff cross, who is described as a lovely friendly boy who hasn’t had the best start to his life.
Mrs Vernon said: “Tyrone has had a couple of homes prior to coming into RSPCA care, was very underweight.
“He is putting on weight well now and is a large, handsome lad. He walks fairly well on the lead/Halti but can still be strong at times.
“He will need company during the day and further training, though he does already know some basic commands.
“His adopters will need to be capable of exercising and controlling a big dog.”
