PUPILS at Appleford School in Shrewton woke up to a treat on St Nicholas’ Day.
The night before, the children had all cleaned their shoes and placed them in the school cloisters, hopeful that St Nicholas may visit the school during the night.
The next morning, to their deligh, they found that St Nicholas had been (captured on film by the house parents).
He was wearing a white-trimmed, green velvet cloak with bells, and had a long white beard. St Nicholas left each of the children a little gift of chocolate coins, and there were even dog bones in chewable dog shoes for the house parents’ dogs.
Recently pupils at Appleford, which caters for children with dyslexia and associated learning difficulties, have been finding out all about about St Nicholas and the many stories and legends of his life.
