PEOPLE have the chance to win up to £500 of festive food as well as help out local families in crisis at Christmas.

REACT Innovative Solutions is sponsoring a Christmas shop prize draw to raise funds for the Trussell Trust.

The trust’s food banks fed more than 300,000 people nationwide in 2012-13 and there is a growing need for the service as families struggle with redundancies, illnesses and growing costs in a difficult economy.

There are about 400 food banks currently, but the aim is to have one in every town.

There are 5,000 tickets available to buy at £1 each for the chance to fill a shopping trolley full of festive food up to the value of £500 at Waitrose in Salisbury.

Tickets can be bough until noon on December 19 at Waitrose, Britz Fish & Chip Shop, St Michael’s Community Centre in Bemerton Heath, the Trussell Trust’s furniture shop at Churchfield Industrial Estate, Shirley Snells Florist and Salisbury Cathedral refectory.

The draw will be carried out at Spire FM’s studios on December 20.

REACT has committed to raising £10,000 for the charity between now and the end of next year to support the trust’s local projects wherever the need is greatest.

Director Jess Thompson-Hughes said: “As we are a local company we want to help the local community.”
