A NEW community choir is being set up in Tisbury.

Singing teacher Mark James is setting up the village’s first community choir to give people the opportunity to learn new songs, sing out loud, gain confidence and find encouragement and support from fellow choir members.

Mr James said: “Community choirs are excellent for those people who don’t have the confidence to sing on their own but want to get involved. Just being in a choir can give you the feeling of safety in numbers but with the knowledge that your effort is just as much needed as everyone else’s.

“You don’t need to be the best singer in the world, you don’t need to be able to remember loads of words by heart and you don’t need to spend a fortune on equipment, all you need is to open your mouth and have the confidence to follow the tune. Why not come along and have a go?”

The first meeting of the Tisbury Community Choir is on January 10 at 7.30pm at Tisbury Methodist Hall.

There is a fee of £3 per rehearsal and everyone is welcome regardless of ability or experience.
