FIREFIGHTERS will be going on strike over pensions again tomorrow and Saturday.
Members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) will walk out for four hours from 6pm tomorrow and again the following day over the Government’s plans to raise the retirement age from 55 to 60 and to increase individual pension contributions.
Firefighters have already been on strike four times in the last three months.
Matt Wrack, Fire Brigades Union General Secretary, said: “It’s now been almost two months since the government has been willing to meet us for negotiations despite several invitations from us. “Until they do and until they start to actually resolve the dispute, we’ll keep up the pressure for the sake of public safety and our members’ pensions.”
