POLICE armed response officers were called to an incident at Salisbury District Hospital in the early hours of this morning.

Officers arrived at 2am following reports that a window in the A&E department was damaged, possibly caused by an air rifle.

The area was searched but no one was found and investigations are continuing into how the damage was caused.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “It is standard for armed response officers to attend a call of this nature.”

And a spokesman for the hospital added: “There is damage to the window from what looks like an air rifle pellet. No staff or patients were in danger.”
