MODEST Robert O’Sullivan has fond memories of his childhood in Salisbury, attending Cathedral School and volunteering at Little Durnford and Fonthill Cricket Club with his father.

Now the 47-year-old, who lives in London where he works as a criminal barrister specialising in fraud cases, is one of the newest Salisbury faces to appear in the illustrious Who’s Who.

Being selected to join the Queen’s Counsel in 2012, after a pursuing a lengthy career in criminal law, was an all-time career high for Mr O’Sullivan. “It was a very proud moment taking silk,” he said. “All my family came to support me and it was a great day. It’s great to be recognised for this achievement in Who’s Who, which is a big deal.”

Mr O’Sullivan grew up in Laverstock, where he lived for about 15 years, and went to Dauntsey’s School, before moving to London to study and practice law. His father Dermot O’Sullivan, a former magistrate in Salisbury, always wanted his son to become a barrister but died in 1992 before having the chance to see him take silk.

Mr O’Sullivan added: “I know my father would have been proud as he always wanted me to become a barrister.”

“I loved living in Salisbury and it’s a place I regularly come back to as my mother still lives there.”
