A CAROL concert at Salisbury Cathedral earlier this month raised more than £30,000 for two forces charities.

More than 1,200 guests went along to the concert on December 6 to raise money for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and Help for Heroes.

The concert was compered by actor David Oakes and there were readings by actor Emilia Fox and her father Edward, Paul Viney from Woolley & Wallis and veteran Captain David Henson from the Royal Engineers. There were traditional carols, music from the Band and Bugles of The Rifles, the Salisbury Plain Military Wives Choir, Gary Chilton fromThe Soldiers, and the Cathedral Choir.

Organiser Caroline Cary said: “We just have to thank all of those who were involved in this concert: readers, musicians, guests, sponsors, advertisers, supporters, and the team behind it that worked so hard to produce such a lovely evening that really surpassed our expectations.”
