PLANS have been submitted for a 70-acre solar farm in fields near Coombe Bissett.

The plans submitted by Coombe Bissett PV Park Ltd include rows of solar panels, along with inverter stations, switchgear, security fencing, landscaping, security cameras and underground grid connection. The site is near Bake Farm, just off the A354.

Coombe Bissett and Homington Parish Council discussed the application at a meeting on Monday evening, which was attended by about 30 local people. Parish chairman Derrick Rattue said it was felt there was not enough information about the potential “community benefits” mentioned in the application. He said: “Most people had reservations about how it is going to look, but when we have more information there will be another meeting for the public.”

Mr Rattue said the public consultation on the plans was scheduled to close on January 9, but the parish council had requested an extension to allow for the festive season.

Wiltshire Council has set a March 27 target date for its decision.
