PENSIONERS from Fordingbridge were treated to Christmas lunch and an old-fashioned singalong at the Burgate School and Sixth Form Centre.

The annual event is organised by sixth form students, with lunch made by the school’s canteen staff.

Student helper Chloe Hinton was confident that everybody had a good time and said: “It was a great time. Everyone involved had fun and all of our visitors had smiles on their faces throughout.”

A selection of pupils from the school volunteered to help and greet the guests.

Deputy headteacher Fiona Bradfield said: “A classic Christmas roast was served, and festivities continued with a post-meal singalong session to familiar Christmas tunes.

“Adding to the spirit of the day, the school choir joined the group in the afternoon to perform a few songs.

“It was a fabulous occasion, enjoyed by young and old.”
