AN illustrated book showing some of Salisbury’s well-known buildings has been produced by artist Simon Harmer.

A Line Around Salisbury is Harmer’s second book and pays homage to the “city in the countryside”.

It contains 12 detailed sketches of landmarks including Salisbury Cathedral, the spire, Mompesson House, Wilton House, Old Sarum and Stonehenge. Historic venues such as the Haunch of Venison, The Old Mill and The Guildhall also feature in the book along with information and anecdotes about each place.

Harmer, who lives in Winchester, drew his sketches using a tablet and stylus and introduced colour to each picture to enhance it.

Pictures from the book are on display in Salisbury Tourist Information Centre.

“We are delighted to showcase these fantastic illustrations in our information centre,” said Salisbury City Council’s business manager, Claire Burden.

“We know the book and other retail items will be a welcome addition to our store and will prove popular with both visitors and residents.

“The illustrations are a refreshingly modern interpretation of some of our more historic landmarks.”

A Line Around Salisbury is available from Salisbury Waterstones and the Tourist Information Centre in Fish Row.
