STUDENTS at two Salisbury schools are to get a deeper insight into the world of science from top speakers at a Careers in Science event.
Julian Jackson, director of development at Fight for Sight, the main UK charity dedicated to funding pioneering eye research to prevent sight loss and treat eye disease, will be speaking to the students from Godolphin and Bishop Wordsworth’s schools on January 8 about the charity’s mission to prevent sight loss and create a future that everyone can see.
Mr Jackson, who lives in Wiltshire, will be joined by Professor Stephen Moss from the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology who will deliver two speeches; the first talk will be to 250 GCSE students in years 10 and 11 about benefits of studying science, and the second to 175 sixth form students, many of whom will be studying science and maths at A-levels and could be the next generation of scientists.
