NAOMI House children’s hospice has received a €12,000 donation from low fare airline Ryanair.

The money was raised through Ryanair’s Fly to Win scratchcards.

Michael Cawley from the company presented the cheque to Mark Smith, deputy chief executive of Naomi House, which is based at Sutton Scotney and provides care and support to children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions from across southern England.

Ryanair’s scratchcards allow passengers to win prizes of cash, luxury cars, or scoop a €1m jackpot – for a stake of €2, which funds numerous charity donations across Europe. This is the second large donation the airline has made in as many months to the children’s hospice. Robin Kiely from Ryanair, said: “We are delighted to support Naomi House and Jacksplace, which do so much.”

Naomi House and Jacksplace deputy chief executive Mark Smith said: “This is a generous donation that enables us to continue providing valuable care and support to children and young people. With less than 10 per cent of the £7m we seek to raise annually coming from government, we are reliant on donations such as this to continue our work.”
