AN open evening for the new Salisbury Sixth Form College, due to open in September, is being held at the Guildhall on Thursday.

Prospective students and their parents are being invited along at 6pm to find out more about how the plans are developing.

There will be a presentation about what the new sixth form will offer, information about work going on behind the scenes and the chance to take away a prospectus and application form and ask questions.

A separate event for potential staff will take place on Wednesday, January 22 at the Guildhall at 6.30pm.

Salisbury Sixth Form College is a separate school from the University Technical College and aims to provide a local alternative for the 600 Salisbury students who currently travel up to 40 miles each way every day for further education.

Simon Firth was appointed as principal last year.
