PANTO season is alive and well in Durrington as the village’s theatre group gets ready to present their version of Sleeping Beauty.

Durrington Amateur Dramatics Society (DADS) will take to the stage this weekend and next at the village hall, with a script by Norman Robbins designed to appeal to adults and children alike and direction by Steve Lucas, who is celebrating 30 years with the society.

DADS is a well-established group, with a lot of the members and backstage crew having been involved for many years.

The group covers all ages and likes to encourage youngsters to take part, with a number of the main parts taken by people who originally started out in the children’s chorus.

A cast of established and new members started rehearsal last September, with junior members also completing their own performance in November. The part of Princess Aurora is played by Hannah Blythe, who has progressed from junior member to the star of the show.

Performances take place on Friday, January 24 at 7.30pm; Saturday, January 25 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm; Friday, January 31, 7.30pm; and Saturday, February 1, 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

Tickets are £6 for adults and £4 for concessions.

They are available on the door or by calling 07554 827833.
