A YOUTH project in Salisbury is asking teenagers what they would like to see at the facility.

The Unit, in Endless Street, has recently been taken over by the Salisbury Youth Partnership - led by Salisbury City Council in conjunction with Salisbury Arts Centre, Salisbury Cathedral, Churches Together, Salisbury Rotary Club, Wiltshire Integrated Youth Service and St Thomas’s Church – and offers a drop-in space with free wifi, one off projects and events for young people.

Consultation so far has indicated that there is a need for somewhere to get together in the city centre that offers a varied programme of things to get involved in and somewhere to get drinks and snacks.

With this in mind, Salisbury Rotary Club has awarded £1,000 towards enhancing the facilities at the Unit to give it more of a cafe feel, with a new hot drinks machine, cold drinks store and new cafe furniture having been ordered.

There will also be a monthly afterschool acoustic open-mic session. Young people aged 13 to 19 are asked to complete a survey at http://form.jotform.co/form/33173269515860 by March 30, or there are copies at the Unit or Salisbury Information Centre.

The information provided will be used to support a funding bid to extend the Unit’s opening hours, currently 3pm to 6pm on weekdays, and offer more activities, projects and opportunities for young people to get involved in.

All completed questionnaires will be entered into a prize draw to win a new tablet.
