THE echoes of "He's behind you" will be ringing out in Alderholt Village Hall tomorrow tonight as community thespians are set to stage Sinbad the Sailor.

For three nights, the Alderholt Musical and Drama Society will perform their own take on this cheerful, slapstick musical pantomime that was written by cast member Les Sacre.

Stage manager Frank Sims said: “This year’s panto is a different interpretation of the traditional tale. As always we try to make it good fun for everyone with song, dance and humour.”

Sinbad and the cast will be bringing the magic of panto to the village hall, as they have done for the last 65 years.

The village drama group staged its first panto way back in 1949, spurred on by the success of the Women’s Institute’s 1948 performance of Cinderella.

A proportion from the takings of Friday’s performance and a raffle will go towards St James First School’s campaign to raise £30,000 to refurbish its ICT suite.
