SWIMMERS are being urged to sign up for the Rotary Club of Salisbury Swimathon.

The 10th annual swimathon, in association with Journal, is being held at Godolphin School's pool on April 12.

The Rotary Club is looking for teams of no more than eight to swim a 'virtual tour' of the Isle of Wight - 58.8 miles - in 55 minutes.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to charities including Morning Star, which supports men struggling with issues such as homelessness and substance misuse; the Life Education Centre, which supplies health and drug education to primary school children throughout Wiltshire; and Parkinson's UK.

Last year saw 28 teams swim a total of 3,557 lengths of the 25m swimming pool, 55.25 miles, raising more than £12,000 for local charities.
