YOUNG people are being invited to attend a careers fair being held at Wiltshire College Salisbury.

Hundreds of students are expected to attend the event on Tuesday, March 11, which is also open to the public.

More than 30 employers, training providers and voluntary organisations will be exhibiting at the fair, which will be in the main hall from 10.30am to 1pm.

Richard Wiltshire, careers, education and guidance manager at the college, said: “Our careers fair is intended to provide a focus for all students and help them decide how they wish to progress from their current course. “The broad range of exhibitors invited should ‘kick start’ applications to further courses, apprenticeships, local and national employers as well as volunteering opportunities in the Salisbury area.”

Some of those who will be on hand to offer advice include representatives from the army, Be Wiser Insurance, BT Openreach, QinetiQ, Macmillan Cancer Support, Wiltshire Police, Avon Vale Training, which offers engineering apprenticeships, the Defence Science & Technology Laboratory, Five Rivers Leisure Centre, Royal Air Force, Royal Fleet Auxiliary and Royal Navy, as well as professionals working in care and support work such as Salisbury Hospital, Bright Horizons and Barchester Health Care.

Recruitment agencies will be represented by Personnel Placements and Active Staff.

Salisbury City Council representatives will be there to talk to those wanting to start their own business but are unsure how to proceed, and the Trussell Trust, TCV, Children’s Society and others can inform about the many volunteering options available.
