A TEENAGER from Salisbury has been given a last chance to change his ways after being found with cannabis five months after appearing in court for drug dealing.

Harry James Smith, 19, was found in possession of cannabis and magic mushrooms after police stopped his friend’s car in Salisbury in November. Officers could smell cannabis and when Smith was searched, they found two bags of cannabis.

They then searched his home where they discovered a small number of magic mushrooms, which Smith said he didn’t know were illegal.

Smith, of Pinewood Way, was stopped in a car in similar circumstances in April last year and later charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

He was given a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years with supervision and ordered to complete 220 hours unpaid work.

The court heard on Friday that since Smith’s last appearance in court in August he has carried out 80 hours of unpaid work and also started working fulltime.

Judge Jane Miller said: “At the age of 19 you deserve to go to prison and if you carry on acting in this way you will go to prison.”

But she ordered continuation of the suspended sentence order, with a three-month curfew between 7pm and 7am.Smith was also fined £100 for each drug offence and ordered to pay £405 costs.

“You have one more chance, but it is absolutely your last chance,” said Judge Miller.
