TALENTED young musicians have the chance to shine in a new competition being run by a Salisbury business.

The Sound Emporium, which works in partnership with schools and care organisations to offer musical opportunities for young people, is running a competition to find new talent in south Wiltshire’s schools.

Ross Sanderson and Kayleigh McCormick, who set up the business, decided to organise a big event to showcase what their company does.

The competition is divided into two categories – age seven to 11 and 11 to 16 – and will be judged by a panel of music experts at a live final.

Mr Sanderson and Miss McCormick will be going into schools from next week to promote the competition, which will have top prizes worth more than £400.

The event is supported by The Wiltshire Music Connect Music Education Hub, The Musicians’ Union and Musicroom Salisbury.
