GREAT fun events are being held at Avon Heath Country Park near Ringwood this Easter holiday.
The park, two miles west of Ringwood on the A31, will hold its Easter Egg Springtime Trail from Saturday, April 5 until Monday, April 21, where families can explore the heath in pursuit of springtime clues and win chocolate egg prizes at the end.
Cost: £2.80 per trail sheet Time: anytime between 11am and 3pm There’s a chance to Meet an Owl on Monday, April 7, with Liberty’s Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre staff at the park from 11.15-11.45am.
Cost: free Then there’s a Forensic Investigations - Owl special from 11.45am-12.30pm, where your mission is to uncover what the owl has been eating with the aid of some tweezers, magnifying glass and a ranger.
Booking is essential for this, and donations are welcome.
People can go along and build a den from 11.30am-12.30pm on Wednesday, April 9.
From log cabins to leafy shelters – let your imagination run wild and get stuck in. Children must be aged six-plus.

There’s a Besom Broom Making workshop on Friday, April 11 with craftsman Terry Heard.
Booking advisable, cost: £5 for child’s broom, £10 for adult’s.
On Tuesday, April 15 at 8.45am, there’s Mysterious Mammals, where you can join the ranger in opening live capture traps to hopefully discover some of the small mammals that live at Avon Heath.
After that you can look for clues to help learn what mammals are out there even when we cannot see them, and there’s a chance to take home your own mini mammal footprint tunnel.

A Ladybird Box Building session will be held on Friday, April 18, when you can drop in anytime between 11am and 2pm to make a hibernation/nesting box.
Booking advisable, cost: £5.50 per box.
Mini Explorers will be held on Monday, April 28 from 10-11.30am.
Encourage your toddlers to discover the wonders of nature through outdoor play with Avon Heath’s rangers. Suitable for two to five-year-olds.
