A BURGLAR forced his way in to the Salisbury home of an elderly woman before stealing a watch.

Police are appealing for information about the incident in Winchester Street, which happened at 1.30pm on January 31.

A man tricked his way into the woman’s home, and a short time later she discovered that a women’s gold watch of Japanese origin had been stolen.

The watch had great sentimental value and had been in the victim’s family for many years.

The distraction burglar is described as white, 5ft 11ins and in his late 40s or early 50s. He had a round face and thick-rimmed glasses, and was wearing a knee-length dark grey woollen coat, dark trousers and black lace-up shoes.

Officers have released an e-fit of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

PC Trevor Morgan said: “This man effectively forced his way in to the lady’s home by intimidating her and we cannot allow this to happen again. We need the help of the public to identify this man and would like to hear from anyone who has information.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Morgan on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
